About the Author
Professor Meg Jordan, PhD, RN, CWP, is Department Chair of Integrative Health Studies and Somatic Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, where her focus is preparing graduate students as catalysts for positive change in health care, wellness and health promotion. Dr. Jordan is a clinical medical anthropologist, an award-winning international health journalist, behavioral medicine specialist, RN, author, and President of Global Medicine Enterprises, Inc. She has combined clinical practice as a behavioral health specialist, and former director of Integrative Practice at the Health Medicine Center. She serves on numerous editorial review boards and professional membership boards including the National Wellness Institute and the Leadership Team of the National Consortium for Credentialing Health and Wellness Coaches, and the Health Medicine Institute. Her areas of expertise include integrative medicine, behavioral medicine, health promotion, wellness, and fitness. As a medical anthropologist, she specializes in the study of multidisciplinary models for integrative medicine (healing circles) and the emergence of health coaches as novel agents in health behavior change. In 2012 she received a grant from Aetna Foundation to bring a unique model of Integrative Wellness Coaching to public housing residents. She is Editor-in-Chief and founder of American Fitness Magazine, and author of several books, including The Fitness Instinct and the forthcoming Adventures of a Global Medicine Hunter. She received the Circle and Leadership Service Award and earned one of the first Certified Wellness Professional (CWP) standings from NWI. The M.A. program she revamped was recognized for Academic Excellence in 2011 by the National Wellness Institute. As a cardiac rehabilitation director, she helped establish the nation’s first hospital-based wellness center in Los Angeles, and later, as a hospital trustee, at ValleyCare Health System in northern California. Dr. Jordan is former health news commentator for KTVU-San Francisco and was host of Global Medicine Hunter® radio and TV in US and Canada. She was a governor appointee, serving on the first California Governor’s Council for Physical Fitness and Sports. She is a sought-after keynote presenter both in the U.S. and internationally. Her hobbies include racing sailboats on San Francisco Bay, music, film and hiking.

I've been reading the webcomic for a little over 5 years now faithfully, and can say without a shadow of a doubt that Cucumber Quest is one of the single best graphic works to come out in years. It's protagonists are lively and captivating, it's antagonists affable and loveable, the color work is literally some of the best I have ever seen period...I'd honestly pay double the listed Amazon price if I could; I've read the series multiple times and I'm still here buying a hard copy. Don't let the cute looking art fool you, hidden beneath that is a masterfully crafted character driven rollercoaster of a story that still manages to suprise me after all these years. Also, its absolutely hilarious.The hardcover novel itself is wonderfully designed and includes fun facts in the back and also letters to the author which are wonderfully fun. It's not super tall either so it won't bog down your living space if you don't have much room for book storage.Please support this wonderful creator by buying this book, she deserves to have her own TV show at this point.

So I was pleasantly surprised to find that this webcomics was picked up for print. Beautiful artwork and character designs make this book a vibrant book. I admit I was concerned about faded and soft colors in the web version but this print job has alleviated any fears of washed out art. The story contains the first 150 pages and a chunk of concept art. To me I wish they'd have had more story pages than the bonus content because it felt like too much? Regardless it's a fun story that as you read future volumes will unfold and reveal themes of what it means to be a hero and why. Check it out.

I couldn’t properly express my excitement and adoration for Cucumber Quest that it deserves if I tried, and I highly recommend this series!!

Cutest story, fun characters. I live the art style. I bought this book for my kindle but had to get it in paperback because I like it so much. Three are several entertaining side plots and well thought out side characters which add greatly to the quality of the story.

It is so good to hold this volume in my hands at last! The story is so much good, snarky, meta fun with amazing characters. And the colors and style continue to dazzle. More volumes to come too!

About the Author

Richard Abcarian (PhD, University of California, Berkeley) is a professor of English emeritus at California State University, Northridge, where he taught for thirty-seven years. During his teaching career, he won two Fulbright professorships. In addition to editing Literature: The Human Experience and its compact edition, he is the editor of a critical edition of Richard Wright's A Native Son, as well as several other literature textbooks.

Marvin Klotz (PhD, New York University) was a professor of English emeritus at California State University, Northridge, where he taught for thirty-three years and won Northridge's distinguished teaching award in 1983. He was also the winner of two Fulbright professorships (in Vietnam and Iran) and was a National Endowment for the Arts Summer Fellow twice. In addition to editing Literature: The Human Experience and several other textbooks, he coauthored a guide and index to the characters in Faulkner's fiction.

Samuel Cohen (PhD, City University of New York) is Associate Professor of English and Director of Graduate Studies at the University of Missouri. He is the author of After the End of History: American Fiction in the 1990s (University of Iowa Press, 2009), coeditor (with Lee Konstantinou) of The Legacy of David Foster Wallace (University of Iowa Press, 2012), Series Editor of The New American Canon: The Iowa Series in Contemporary Literature and Culture, and coeditor of JMMLA. He has also been published in such journals as Novel, Clio, Twentieth-Century Literature, The Journal of Basic Writing, and Dialogue: A Journal for Writing Specialists. For Bedford/St. Martin's, he is author of 50 Essays: A Portable Anthology and coauthor of Literature: The Human Experience.
